Vintage House Daylseford \ Daylseford \ Australia

Located on the border of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs, the charming 2 bedroom house and 1 bedroom studio are surrounded by willow, pine and fruit trees on an acre of land with gorgeous views extending over the Wombat State Forest and Doctor's Gully. Originally an 1860's miner's cottage, the home has been lovingly restored and re-designed by Kali Cavanagh, bringing new life to the house by highlighting the original features and furnishing with antiques, vintage and industrial furniture and artwork from around the globe. Located in the pastoral interior of Ibiza amid 10 hectares of biodynamic orchards and pine groves is a recent collaboration between Design Hotels and Friends of a Farmer, a group which bills itself as "a creative community forged around the cultivation of art, crops, and inner gardens". A 200 year old farmhouse, marked by classical Iberian architecture with traces of Moorish influences, was converted into a members-only retreat of 9 suites and a private 2 bedroom guesthouse by Dreimeta Design studio led by Armin Fischer. A boho farmhouse aesthetic of minimalist elegance permeates the boutique hotel in a medley of dark burnt wood, distressed wooden furniture, dark painted walls anchored with slabs of slate and stone. Mediterranean gardens surround the sprawling estate with stone terraces, an infinity pool and an outdoor bar. Pared-down, yet luxurious, La Granja is ideal for those seeking a simpler, quieter way of life, surrounded by good food and company.

Casa Cook Rhodes \ Rhodes \ Greece

Located at the base of a craggy mountainside dotted with wildflowers and grazing goats, this tranquil bohemian retreat has the feel of mid-century California with predominantly white buildings accented with exposed stone walls, timber decks, azure pools and silvery olive trees. The ambiance is a fusion of tropical and modern with Mediterranean and nomadic elements - picture taupe sofas with chocolate-hued acapulco chairs, suspended black loungers amidst a cluster of potted palm trees. The wall behind the reception desk is adorned with an elaborate ceramic mural of vibrant parrots, monkeys and jungle palms. This is the newest concept hotel of the Thomas Cook Group, what they call a "boutique hotel with a bohemian spirit", a far cry from the all-inclusive family resorts they are known for.
